Key Responsibilities:
Advice by the Project Manager of The Standard Trade Development Facility (STDF) Project WorldFish, Bangladesh and direct supervision by the Field Supervisor, the Field Assistant will be responsible for Building trade capacity of small-scale shrimp and prawn farmers in Bangladesh – Investing in the Bottom of the Pyramid Approach:
Beneficiary Management:
  • Select shrimp farmers, clusters and cluster leaders as per the selection criteria and need of the project
  • Organize and strengthen aquaculture community for self-help and promoting and sharing technological knowledge aiming to improve  production of shrimp and fish within the cluster
  • Conduct a participatory conformity analysis of current farmer practices with the cluster against relevant market standards and guidelines.
  • Prepare training schedule and plan for farmer clusters
  • Facilitate and conduct relevant training for farmers including frequent coaching and mentoring support individually and as a group
  • Facilitate the process of adopting synchronized shrimp farming systems
  • Help cluster members to improve access to quality inputs such as feed and seed
  • Responsible for co-ordination and implementation of activities of the program
  • Assist and coordinate with selected farmers in setting up demonstrations on improved shrimp farming systems
  • Assist farmers to help improving shrimp post-harvesting techniques and linking them with market actors and processing plants
  • Ensure networking in union parishad, NGOs and others institutions
  • Assist Field supervisor to organize Upazilla level workshop with public and private sector service providers and associated value chain actors (e.g.  shrimp/fish suppliers, PL suppliers, nursery, hatchery owner and grow out farmers)
  • Organize learning events for sharing of experiences among farmers and clusters, eg  farmers field day
Monitoring & Evaluation:
  • Collect required data and information as per the need of the project
  • Monitor water quality parameters as needed
  • Share key results among the project and non-project farmers
Others:
  • Prepare reports required by the management.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and team building skills
  • Fluency in written in Bangla
  • The candidate should be hard worker, punctual and sincere to work.
Qualifications and Experiencs:
  • Minimum Graduation from any university. Academic qualification will be relaxed for long experienced candidates
  • Minimum 2 years in development and technical experience preferably in the areas of agriculture, fisheries or related programs
